Welcome to Vascular Surgery Department of Beijing Shijitan Hospital. Our department is one of the most important departments of the hospital, which has high honor in China. There are 20 beds in our ward. We are dedicated to the highest levels of patient care, professional education and clinical and translational research. For over a decade, we have been recognized internationally as one of the premier academic vascular surgery programs, and we continue to strive for improved outcomes and quality of life for patients confronted with complex aortic, peripheral vascular diseases and vein diseases.
 

Carotid artery stenosis with repetitive TIA should be repaired by endarectomy to prevent stroke with low cost and ideal effect. Whole-course brain protection is our concept in dealing with CAS, especially with the help of transcranial color Doppler in dynamic monitoring of the perioperative brain flow.

Acute ichemia of the lower extremity is a limb-threatened condition which often needs emergent pulling out of the embolus through operation or balloon thrombectomy.

Aortoiliac occlusive disease and superficial femoral atherosclerotic occlusion often present as chronic ischemia of the lower extremities. Now they can be palliated through endovascular surgery, such as balloon angioplasty, stenting or bypass procedure by artificial vascular materials. Sometimes we hybrid the open surgery and endovascular technique to manage it.

Lumber sympathectomy combined with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation can also improve chronic ischemia of the lower extremities through relief of the vasoconstrictive effect of sympathy nerve and reestablishment of capillary circulation.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms and Dissection of the Descending aorta have always been recognized as challenging areas in vascular surgery because of the potential high mortality. Open surgery with new type artificial graft and endovascular surgery with new type stents have brought safe and effective ways to them.

Superior Mesenteric Artery disease includes stenosis and acute embolism from heart. Quick diagnosis can be acquired by special enzyme spectrum analysis. Fogarty balloon catheter can help pull out the emboli from the vessels and thrombolysis through catheter also can do help.

Arteriovenous dialysis access is the lifeline to the uremic patients. A new type of graft material has been used in special group of patients whose vascular condition is not suitable to do autogenous fistula.

Saphenous vein varicose is a most common venous disease. Now we introduce a minimal invasive procedure with Trivex system from America to treat it with little scar. This technique is welcomed by young people, especially the ladies.

Deep venous thrombosis is a kind of potential fetal disease commonly derived from bone surgery, obstetric surgery, abdominal surgery and malignant disease. Vena caval filter often prevent fatal pulmonary embolism in some special conditions. Thrombectomy with or without thrombolysis followed by anticoagulation therapy do good to long-time survival.

Pulmonary embolism is a severe complication of deep venous thrombosis, which often needs aniticoagulation or thrombolysis. Commonly, whenever it occurs, vena caval filter is necessary.
 

There are more than 20 beds in our department, including three three-person-wards, five two-person-wards and two VIP wards equipped with modern electric apparatus, such as refrigerator, cable TV, and microwave oven. Every ward has air conditioner and toilet.
Intelligent calling system is set for every bed.

We have color Doppler for daily examination and modified operating room equipped with C-arm to complete any vascular performance. MR, spiral CT, and DSA in our hospital also provide excellent images to vascular surgeons.
